This week, we honor Brother Lamar Samuels, a devoted husband, father, veteran, and lifelong servant-leader whose steady presence has blessed First Genesis Baptist Church for over four decades.
A proud Rochester native, Brother Samuels became a member of First Genesis in 1980. Since then, he has faithfully served in nearly every capacity imaginable—always with humility, strength, and unwavering dedication. He currently serves as Co-Chairman of the Men’s Ministry, and is an active member of the Male Usher Board, Senior Usher Board, and the Board of Trustees. He also shares his wisdom as a Sunday School Teacher, pouring into others with both experience and spiritual insight.
Professionally, Brother Samuels dedicated 32 years as a Mechanical Engineer at Kodak Corporation, bringing precision, discipline, and innovation to his work. His sense of duty also extended to his country—serving 3 years on active duty and 26 years in the U.S. Army Reserve. His military and professional careers reflect the same character he brings to church: strong, dependable, and full of quiet resolve.
Beyond his roles in service, Brother Samuels is a loving husband to Priscilla Samuels and a proud father of two. His life is deeply rooted in faith, family, and a desire to uplift others.
One verse guides his heart and his path:
“Trust in the Lord with all thine heart.” – Proverbs 3:5
Brother Lamar Samuels, we thank you for your leadership, your testimony, and the lasting legacy you continue to build at First Genesis.
