WE MADE STRIDES TOGETHER
On October 19, our church family proudly participated in the 2025 Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk at Innovative Field in Rochester, NY.
With every step, we honored survivors, remembered those we’ve lost, and showed unwavering support for women and men still fighting. The pink wave across the field wasn’t just color — it was conviction, courage, and community.
OCTOBER IS BREAST CANCER AWARENESS MONTH
This month reminds us that awareness saves lives — but action sustains them. Breast cancer affects both women and men, across every background.
1 in 8 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in her lifetime.
About 1 in 833 men will be diagnosed with breast cancer in his lifetime.
More than 300,000 new cases of invasive breast cancer are expected in 2025.
When detected early and treated at the localized stage, the five-year survival rate exceeds 99%.
These numbers aren’t just statistics — they represent people we love, families we cherish, and stories that matter.
EARLY DETECTION SAVES LIVES
We encourage everyone — women and men — to speak with their medical provider about breast health and appropriate screening options.
Regular mammograms, clinical exams, and self-checks play a vital role in early detection. If you notice a lump, pain, discharge, or any unusual changes, don’t ignore it — get it checked.
Taking care of your health is an act of stewardship over the life God entrusted to you..
BE PROACTIVE ABOUT YOUR HEALTH
Faith without action is incomplete — so here are practical steps you can take today:
Conduct regular self-breast exams: Knowing what’s normal for your body helps you notice changes early.
Know your family history: If breast or other cancers run in your family, share that with your doctor. It can guide when and how often and at what age you should be screened.
Exercise regularly: Staying active helps regulate hormones and strengthen your immune system, reducing overall cancer risk.
Eat a balanced diet: A diet rich in fruits, vegetables, lean proteins, and whole grains supports long-term health.
: Both have been linked to increased breast cancer risk; reducing or avoiding them helps protect your body.
Maintain a healthy weight: Keeping your body within a healthy range lowers the levels of hormones that can promote cancer growth.
Every small, consistent choice strengthens your defense against disease and reflects faithful stewardship over your well-being.
STANDING WITH THOSE IN THE FIGHT
To those currently battling breast cancer: you are not alone.
We walk beside you.
We pray for you.
We believe with you.
Our congregation continues to stand beside every warrior through prayer, outreach, and fellowship.
HIGHLIGHTS
Watch our short recap video from the walk:
You’ll see joy, unity, and faith in motion — proof that when we come together, God multiplies our impact.
This walk wasn’t just about awareness — it was about action. We showed up as a church that doesn’t just preach love; we practice it.
Let’s continue to lift up those affected by breast cancer, support research, and champion early detection. Together, we can turn awareness into lasting change.
