Minister Spotlight: Faith in Action – Honoring Reverend Cheryl Washington

Updated: Apr 2

At First Genesis Baptist Church, we are blessed with leaders who are not only faithful to their calling but deeply rooted in the Word of God. Today, we are honored to spotlight Reverend Cheryl Washington, a committed servant of Christ and passionate teacher of the Gospel.

Ordained in June 2016 under the leadership of Rev. Dr. Fredrick Johnson, Sr., Rev. Washington has faithfully served the church with purpose and integrity. She currently leads as the Superintendent of Sunday Morning Inspiration (Sunday School Ministry), where she fosters a Bible-teaching and Bible-believing environment for spiritual growth and discipleship.

Her ministry is marked by a strong dedication to the Word of God and a deep commitment to building a church community grounded in faith and understanding. Rev. Washington wholeheartedly upholds the church’s motto:

"A church on the move with God's vision in hand, making disciples for the kingdom" (Matthew 6:33) — a motto that shines through in everything she does.

Whether she's guiding a lesson, mentoring others, or encouraging the body of Christ, Rev. Washington leads with humility, clarity, and conviction. She is a true example of what it means to live out God's vision and help others discover their place in His Kingdom.

We are grateful for her leadership, her heart for discipleship, and her unwavering commitment to the mission of First Genesis.

Stay tuned as we continue our Minister Spotlight: Faith in Action series, celebrating the remarkable leaders who guide us in faith.
